Ephesians 6:10-20 Finally be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

We are working on making all of the recipes in my Granny’s Recipe Box. Every so often I pull one out at random and make it with whatever I have on hand, this is only the second recipe I have chosen but so far I haven’t had to make to many substitutions. My Granny collected recipes from family and friends for many years and her recipe box was very full. She had such a heart of gold and I miss her very much.

2 Cups Flour
1 Cup Sugar
4TBS Cocoa powder
1/2 TBS Baking Soda
1/2 TBS Baking Powder
1 Cup Mayonnaise
1 Cup Water
1tsp vanilla
- For Frosting:
1 lb powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
3 TBS cocoa
1tsp vanilla
1/2 stick or 4tbs butter
Directions
- For the cake:
- preheat the oven to 350°F
- mix all dry ingredients then add all wet ingredients and mix until well combined
- pour batter into a well greased pan
- bake until a toothpick comes out clean
- For the frosting:
- Cream butter, milk, cocoa, and vanilla together then slowly add powdered sugar until the frosting gets to the consistency that you like (you probably will not need to use the entire amount of powdered sugar)
Let the cake cool completely then frost and Enjoy!
Notes
- If you add to much powdered sugar then you can add more milk, just add very little at a time until you get to the consistency that you like
- this cake itself is not an overly sweet cake, the frosting I feel helps make this a lovely sweet treat without being to sweet
